Athletics at St. Jude's Academy
At St. Jude’s Academy, we believe in prioritizing students’ physical and mental wellbeing above all else, and keeping them active is just one of the ways that we show our dedication to overall student success. Our students participate in Physical Education every day, whether through regular gym class or the variety of sports offered as extracurricular activities. Intramural sports and Field Days encourage students to enjoy athleticism and even take athleticism beyond school.
Starting in just Grade 5, St. Jude’s Academy students delve deeply into athletics, trying their hand at skiing, curling, rock-climbing and tennis. Our students have the opportunity to go skiing or rock-climbing multiple times a year, allowing them to become proficient in fun, exciting sports that go beyond the typical gym class.
St. Jude's Academy FC
St. Jude’s Academy is a member of the Small School Athletic Federation (SSAF). With the SSAF, the school participates in competitive team sports, including soccer, basketball, volleyball and track.
The St. Jude’s Academy Athletic Centre and Dome
St. Jude’s Academy students have exceptional opportunities when it comes to athletics at school. Our fully-equipped Athletic Centre (AC) and Dome, located just up the street from St. Jude’s Academy, are used for Physical Education classes, FC soccer coaching, extracurriculars and more. Many Upper School students visit the Dome weekly for Phys. Ed. classes, as per their class schedule, or at various times throughout the year for Track & Field or soccer events. Students are conveniently bussed to and from the Dome and Athletic Centre to enjoy state-of-the-art facilities complete with a large indoor soccer field, a full-size basketball court, an indoor swimming pool and the Wynn Fitness Club gym and weight room. These facilities have a major impact on the quality of programs we are able to offer in athletics, making us one of the best-equipped private schools in the GTA for soccer, basketball, volleyball and more.
